TWC’s Global Competencies Program is designed for high performing seniors, recent college graduates or students currently enrolled in graduate school. Recognizing current needs and a skills gap in the world labor force, this program is a cutting-edge forum that will give you the skills, experience and expertise you need to succeed in a competitive international labor market.


The program will equip you with powerful skills and tools to increase your employability chances at top jobs and expand your opportunities for upward career mobility. Program participation will help you shorten the learning curve while benefiting you and your employers, resulting in a win-win situation.



This program is only for international participants or students:

  • Who received their undergraduate/bachelor’s degree within 18 months of graduation
  • Who are currently enrolled in graduate school, or
  • Who are in their senior year of university and have been pre-selected to apply to this program.

University seniors must be first nominated by one of TWC’s affiliated schools, then fill out the initial application for a pre-screening process and selection by TWC’s selection committee. Selected candidates will then be asked to complete the comprehensive TWC application.


Program Components

  • Internship: You will intern at your assigned internship site four days per week. Time spent at your internship site will help you gain professional experience, a competitive edge in the job market and present you with networking opportunities. Internship sites will serve as a platform for the direct application of the skills you will develop throughout the program. Internship supervisors will be made aware of your assignments and requirements and will contribute to your professional journey. (4 days per week)
  • Global and Executive Competencies Sessions: You will receive training on core professional competencies on Fridays. These sessions will provide you with a competitive advantage and enhance your work performance. (3 hours per week)
  • Mentorship and Networking Opportunities: Throughout the semester, you will receive one-on-one mentoring to further build on your newly developed skills and strategize about your career path networking opportunities. Individual mentoring sessions will take place four times, with each session spanning 30 minutes.

Also included with the program:

  • Global Competencies Framework Toolkit: includes all the concepts, competency frameworks and tools from each session
  • Communication Journey: guides each participant’s progress throughout the program
  • Schoology: manages all program resources and additional networking opportunities through an online learning management system
  • Site visits by program staff: ensure each participant is applying learned skills and achieving progress at their internship
  • Access to TWC’s Student Services, including career development, social and networking events
  • Joining TWC’s extensive alumni network including over 50,000 people across the world
  • Option to use TWC’s convenient housing facilities
  • Processing of J-1 visa documents

Fall 2017

  • Application Deadline: May 3, 2017
  • Check-In: August 23, 2017
  • Check-Out: December 9, 2017

Spring 2018

  • Application Deadline: October 11, 2017
  • Check-In: January 24, 2018
  • Check-Out: May 5, 2018

Program Fees

How to Apply

For recent graduates or graduate students currently enrolled in graduate school, please fill out the TWC's Online Application. Application must include:

  • One-page resume (US-style)
  • 500-word issues essay
  • TOEFL iBT Score: 80+ (or equivalent English language exam e.g. IELTS, TOEIC)
  • Two letters of recommendation (in English)
  • Official Transcript from university showing a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Copy of a valid passport
  • Deposit of $250 (due upon acceptance into the program and applied towards the program fee; non-refundable)

University seniors:

  • Students in their final year of undergraduate studies must first be nominated by one of TWC’s partner institutions to start the application process and fill out the initial application form at
