Though we’re retooling some of our alumni programs and services this year, here are a few ways you can keep up with us – and each other – as you grow in your careers and personal lives.

The Washington Center Alumni Community on LinkedIn

Join more than 3,500 of your fellow alumni in this group! Talk to one another, learn about upcoming TWC event and share your successes here.

Expanded Networking Programs

You didn’t come to TWC to play around – you came to advance your career. That’s why we try to host several events, both in-person and on the web, that bring the TWC alumni community together and provide professional development resources.

In-Person Events

In areas where many alumni live, we host periodic networking and social events. We announce these events via email and social media based on your geographic region – so make sure your contact information is up to date so you receive the news.

Virtual Events

Using the Brazen platform, we host virtual networking events with alumni and current students. We also have used this technology to host a recent virtual career boot camp, during which alumni could receive job-searching advice, learn what recruiters are looking for, and refresh resumes and LinkedIn profiles. These events are open to any alumni who have a mobile device and access to the internet – no matter where you live!

Keep tabs on the goings-on here in Washington and look out for special alumni shoutouts and contests!

Local Alumni Ambassadors Program

Not living near TWC? That doesn’t mean we’re not close to home for you. See if we have a local alumni ambassador for your area or program. These ambassadors can serve as friendly faces where you live or as helpful guides about a city you’re planning to move to.

So far, Washington, Boston and New York, and the Cordova (Puerto Rico) and Belgium programs have alumni ambassadors in place. We look forward to expanding to represent more cities and programs soon.

Promise e-Newsletter

Our thrice-a-year email digest of alumni-focused stories, TWC news and the latest alumni events. Don’t receive it? Make sure we have your current email address!

Alumni Awards and Breakfast Ceremony

Each year on the day of Gala, we honor three alumni for professional successes and committed service to TWC with the Alumni Achievement, Alumni Engagement and Young Alumni awards. Fellow alumni from around D.C. or those in town for Gala are invited to help  us recognize these standout alumni.

Alumni Holiday Party

It’s our biggest alumni-only event of the year and happens each year in December at a great venue in the D.C. area.

Alumni in Residence Program

The Washington Center’s alumni in residence play vital roles for interns each semester as mentors, mediators, emergency responders and activity organizers. AIRs must have successfully completed a TWC internship or seminar program, hold a bachelor’s degree and have employment in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

In return for their service to TWC, AIRs receive one bedroom/bathroom in a two bed/bath unit in the Residential and Academic Facility (1005 3rd Street NE, Washington) rent-free. Also included at no cost: standard cable and internet, parking and basic furnishings.

The Office of Student Services and Community Life conducts a reappointment process for AIRs each semester and alerts the Alumni Engagement Team to openings as they become available. We advertise those opportunities via social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) and an email to alumni. At that point, interested alumni are invited to submit cover letters and resumes to Student Services and Community Life.

Open AIR positions typically are posted in May, August and December of each year.
